----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Adventure Theatre continues its literary series for the 2009-10 season with seven popular children’s book adaptations. Experience the journey from reading the books at home to seeing the plays unfold before your eyes on the newly renovated, high tech stage at Adventure Theatre. Co-sponsored by Friends of the Library, Little Falls Chapter. (Books are available at Little Falls Library.) Members receive: * A Book Club Passbook. Get it stamped at the theatre so you can keep track of your reading travels! * A Membership Sticker. You will receive a sticker at each book club performance you attend. * A Membership Card. Present it at Politics & Prose bookstore for a 20% discount on selected Book Club titles. * Two discount tickets for each Book Club performance. After the performance, have your program signed by the actors then stay for a discussion and/or related activity. (Note that there is only one designated Book Club performance for each play; designated Book Club performances are always on Sundays at 1:30.) * Name displayed in the lobby. Films: A 60-minute documentary film highlighting the Park’s 115-year history from a National Chautauqua Assembly to a premiere amusement park to a vibrant arts and humanities center. Shown at 4 p.m.
Tours: Carousel tours start at 10:30 a.m. (May-Sep) or noon (Oct-Apr) and give visitors a closer look at the beautiful 1921 Dentzel carousel. Find out how it was made, how it works, and about the rest of the amusement park attractions that were built around it. Hear about the civil rights protests and the inspiring story of how the town rallied together to save the carousel.
Park tours begin at 2 p.m. and lead visitors on a walking tour of the Park to learn about its fascinating history and the current programs in visual and performing arts, as well as environmental education for children.
Admission is free for films and tours. Tours begin and films are shown at the visitor's desk in the Arcade Building on Saturdays and Sundays. Tours are also offered by appointment at (301) 320-1400. For further information, visit www.nps.gov/glec.

It's Amazing! It's Stupendous! It's Really Old! For almost 45 years members of "Circus!" have been entertaining families. Whoosey the Clown is celebrating his 50th birthday! Most of the cast members were created by Len and Pat Piper in Hawaii, and brought out of retirement by the Puppet Co. to delight anew! In grand circus tradition, the "Grandest Show on Strings" features a panoply of pandemaniacal clowns, death-defying acrobats, and an amazing menagerie of fauna from the farthest reaches of the globe. Performed by Christopher and MayField Piper, many of the acts were built more than 40 years ago by Christopher’s parents for "Len Piper’s International Marionette Circus." The Friday Night Dancers present Contra dancing as well as some square dances and waltzes. There is a Contra dance lesson from 7:30 to 8:15 p.m. followed by the called dance to live music from 8:30 to 11:30 p.m. Beginners are always welcome.

Forever Dancing presents "Super Fiesta Latina" Party on selected Friday evenings at Glen Echo Park's Ballroom Annex. This new hall features a brand new cushioned dance floor and plenty of room - a perfect atmosphere for this Latin party!

The dance is hosted by Fabio and Jennifer Bonini and promises to be a lot of fun!!! Come in and check out this new floor!

The evening will include a lesson from 8:15 - 9:00 PM for Salsa beginners and up.

The lesson is followed by dancing from 9:00 PM - Midnight with teacher and DJ Fabio Bonini playing the best of Salsa, Bachata, Merengue, Cha-Cha, Reggaeton and more! The $15 admission includes the lesson, dancing and complimentary drinks and sweets.
