Photoworks Gallery at Glen Echo Park presents Signs of Life. There is more than meets the eye in the evocative landscape scenes in Elizabeth Steuart's black and white silver prints. Poised at the edge of nature, her images, though unpopulated, suggest an unseen human presence. Natural and man-made elements are woven together in compositions reminiscent of a stage set, as if the camera shutter were the curtain for an act just completed, or not yet begun. Enigmatic forms, paths, empty chairs or serpentine walls are visual cues and props lending a sense of intrigue to the scene; the viewer completes the narrative. The Glen Echo Park Partnership presents the exhibition Print Mix in the Popcorn Gallery. Six local printmakers - Arlen Sherwood, Bethany Hansen, Caitlin Sherwood, Liz Wolf, Lucinda Sherwood, and Meaghan Busch - share their creative journeys using traditional, contemporary and experimental printmaking techniques and mixed media. The artists explore through processes such as reflecting their inner and outer worlds, telling stories and using their intuition as a guide.
