----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Adventure Theatre continues its literary series for the 2007-2008 season with seven popular children's book adaptations. Experience the journey from reading the books at home to seeing the plays unfold before your eyes on the newly renovated, high tech stage at Adventure Theatre. Co-sponsored by Friends of the Library, Little Falls Chapter. (Books are available at the Little Falls Library.) There is only one designated Book Club performance for each play, held on a Sunday at 1:30 p.m.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------- Get your ticket to the hottest field trip around! Elementary school students in grades 4-6 can now enjoy an educational and entertaining 45 minute play titled "Clara Barton, the Courage Within" at Adventure Theatre. After the play, students can visit nearby Clara Barton National Historic Site where Miss Barton lived and conducted the Red Cross for fifteen years. Tuesdays at 10 a.m. during the academic year for school groups and other large groups of age-appropriate children. Tickets $8.00. Minimum 50-person audience. No charge for visiting the historic home.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Carousel tours start at noon and give visitors a closer look at the beautiful 1921 Dentzel carousel. Find out how it was made, how it works, and about the rest of the amusement park attractions that were built around it. Hear about the civil rights protests and the inspiring story of how the town rallied together to save the carousel. Admission is free and all tours are also offered by appointment at (301) 320-1400. An elegant production of the classic children's favorite. Set in 17th-century France, the story combines beautifully elaborate costumes and Offenbach's "Gaiety Parisian" to adorn the tale of the cinder girl who captures the heart of the handsome prince. The production was acclaimed at the 1997 National Puppet Festival, and performed at the Center for Puppetry Arts in Atlanta. Performances on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, 10 & 11:30 a.m. and Saturdays and Sundays, 11:30 a.m. & 1 p.m.Playing time is 45 minutes. ASL performance: May 11 at 1 p.m.

Glen Echo Pottery and the Popcorn Gallery presents an exhibition of the work of twelve Glen Echo Park potters showcasing their unique "dialogues with clay." The pieces demonstrate the creative combinations of shape, surface texture, and glazing that each potter uses to take the clay from concept to completion. Opening Reception May 3, 5 - 7pm.

The shows are shorter, the light stay on, the doors stay open, and the show is set up on the floor! Performances on two Tuesdays each month (except December and January, which have just one). The perfect children's bedtime book, now, a musical adaptation of goodnight wishes from a little bunny in striped pajamas preparing for--or attempting to postpone--his own slumber. Much to the chagrin of The Little Old Lady Whispering ‘Hush!’, his flights of fantasy soar up to the Moon—with lots of music and dance! May 15 - June 1 at Adventure Theatre, Saturdays and Sundays at 11am and 1:30pm. Weekday Field Trip Performances: May 15-16 (10am only), 20 - 22 and 27 - 29 at 10am and 12:30pm. Dancing by the Bayou

Dancing by the Bayou presents a Cajun dance with Steve Riley and the Mamou Playboys. Part Cajun, zydeco and swamp pop, South Louisiana's leading young band. At a time when young Cajun musicians are experimenting with all kinds of exciting hybrids, from funk to hip-hop, Steve Riley & the Mamou Playboys have taken a more preservationist approach, mixing in carefully written originals with tunes drawn from the rich musical tradition of southwest Louisiana, updating things just enough to keep them vital and fresh. Gulf coast French Louisiana rock 'n' roll!

Admission includes a short introductory dance lesson from 3 - 3:30 pm followed by dancing until 6:00 pm to fabulous live music.

Waltz Time

Waltz Time presents a beginning waltz lesson from 3 to 3:30 p.m., followed by an afternoon of waltzes and other couples dances. Dancing from 3:30 to 6 p.m. to the music of Jubilea with Mary Lea, Anna Patton, Paul Oorts, and David Wiesler. This popular band is sure to provide a wonderful afternoon of waltz and other couples dances. As always, no partner is required for this dance in the Spanish Ballroom, and the cost is only $8, including lesson.

Flying Feet Enterprises

Flying Feet Enterprises presents an Argentine Tango/Milonga at Glen Echo's historic, 1930s Art Deco Spanish Ballroom. The evening will start with a tango lesson at 7 p.m. for all levels of Tango dancers.

After the lesson, dance from 8:00 pm - 11 pm to music by DJ Mark Longerbeam who will play the finest Argentine Tango music from the 1920s through today.

Folklore Society of Greater Washington

The Folklore Society of Greater Washington presents traditional American dancing with a focus on New England style contra dances, including square dances, country mixers, waltzes and other couple dances. All dances are taught, and no partner is necessary.

The newcomers' welcome lesson is at 7 p.m., followed by called dances with Tom Hinds calling to Jubilea with musicians Mary Lea, Anna Patton, Paul Oorts, and David Wiesler from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m.
