Blown Glass
Glen Echo Glassworks is the Washington, DC area's first glass school, and
continues to provide one of the only area studios for blown glass instruction,
exhibitions and special programs under the direction of artist Paul Swartwood.
Classes are offered year round for beginner through advanced levels and open
studio time is available for experienced artists. Located in the former
Caretaker's Cottage, the studio is open to the public Saturdays, 12pm to 4pm,
and by appointment, to observe glassblowing demonstrations and see work by

Calligraphy
Learn the art of calligraphy with artist Alana Hunter at Feather Tree Hill
Studio. Classes and camps in calligraphy, handwriting improvement, wearable

Ceramics and Pottery
Glen Echo Pottery is a fully equipped studio that specializes in high
temperature reduction firing with a year-round schedule of daytime and evening
classes. Ceramic classes offer a unique opportunity to explore the exciting
medium of clay. Instruction geared to the level of the individual student is
given in an environment that is relaxed and informal, yet creatively serious.
The studio's teaching philosophy and friendly atmosphere enable students to
express themselves freely at their own pace and become active members of the
pottery community. The Pottery Gallery Yurt is located on the main entry path
from the parking lot and is open Saturdays and Sundays, 12 to 5pm, April

Drawing and Painting
The Yellow Barn Studio and Gallery is the painting residency at Glen Echo Park.
Resident painter and instructor Walt Bartman's goal is to provide a place where
those interested in painting can have the opportunity to meet, collaborate and
display their work. The Yellow Barn Studio provides a variety of classes in
watercolor, oil and acrylic painting for students at all levels representing a
diversity of philosophies and approaches taken by the faculty.
The Yellow Barn Gallery hosts individual and group art exhibits year-round and
is open to the public on Saturday and Sundays from 12 to 5 p.m. Phone:

The Yellow Barn Stone Tower Artist-in-Residence provides Yellow Barn instructors
and other distinguished artists the opportunity to use the first floor
Chautauqua Tower as a working artist studio. Artists are in residence for 1 to
3 months, with open public hours and offer lectures, demonstrations and other

J. Jordan Bruns is a visual artist occupying a studio on the second and third floors of the Chautauqua Tower. As a resident artist, he acreates large-scale paintings and drawings that play with themes of permanence, movement, and memory. An accomplished landscape painter, he has exhibited in various venues including the Indiana University Art Museum, Popcorn Gallery, and the Foundry Art Center in Missouri. Kilnformed Glass
The Art Glass Center at Glen Echo is a school, a resource center, and a gallery
for kilnformed glass that serves the Washington metropolitan area. The Center
is directed by glass artists-in-residence, who are committed to both teaching
and creating. These artists offer a variety of classes for beginning students
to master classes for advanced artists. Classes include fusing, kiln casting,
mosaics, jewelry, Venetian glass bead making and stained glass. The Center
produces exhibits each year featuring the glass art of emerging artists, studio
artists, faculty and students. The Art Glass Center's Studio and Gallery are
open to the public Friday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.,

Mixed Media and Printmaking
B&C Multi-Arts Studio is collaboration between two unique artists, Napoleon
Bongaman and Cassie Lynott. Bongaman is a multimedia artist from Cameroon. His
abstract multimedia paintings are known for their vibrant and active color
palette and the continuous element of discovery. Cassie is a multifaceted
artist exploring printmaking and jewelry design. Her functional and fine art
are inspired by vibrant colors and contrasts and unconventional combinations of
materials. Their studio is located in a small yurt along the main pathway from

Mixed Media and Surface Design
Bonnie Lee Holland, ART & CREATIVITY LAB, has a diverse arts background as an artist, educator, arts administrator, curator, writer, and creativity consultant. Along with teaching art techniques in mixed media, textiles, color and design for teens and adults, she has a particular interest in facilitation of creativity and creative problem solving. Her classes and workshops are labs for exploration. Bonnie’s art, including her more recent large–scale painting, textiles, hand scrolls, and mixed media installations, has been exhibited at the National Museum of Women in the Arts, the Textile Museum, and many regional arts centers. She has won individual artist awards from the Maryland State Arts Council and Art and Humanities Council of Montgomery County. Music
The Washington Conservatory of Music joined the Park community in summer 2009 and is located at the far end of the Arcade building, past Adventure Theatre. The Conservatory is a nationally accredited independent community music school that has served students of all ages and levels in the greater DC and Bethesda area since 1984. They offer lessons and classes for young children, teens, and adults, and present public professional concerts throughout the year. At Glen Echo Park, the Conservatory offers music classes for all ages, summer camps for children and teens, group ensembles, and occasional public performances. All music classes at the Park are now taught by Conservatory Faculty or Washington Conservatory Music Associates and include early childhood music classes as well as classes in guitar, piano, voice and Irish music techniques. Photography
Photoworks is a unique learning center providing a personalized atmosphere for
students to develop their visual talents in photography. Small classes, a
variety of courses and a professional faculty of commercial and fine art
photographers allow each student to develop his/her technical and aesthetic
photo abilities. Photoworks, a studio in the Arcade building, is equipped for
b/w film development and printing with an enlarger for each student, two film
developing rooms, and a mat cutting area. The digital studio is equipped with
six new iMacs, two eMacs, scanners and two Epson printers (2200 and 3800). All
chemicals are provided. Students provide camera, film and paper. Laptops are
encouraged for digital classes. The Photoworks exhibition space provides an
opportunity for showing work by emerging and professional photographers. The
gallery is open Saturdays 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. and Sundays and Mondays 1 p.m. to 8

Silversmithing
Glen Echo Park SilverWorks is directed by silver artist-in-residence, Blair
Anderson. Learn the traditional art of silversmithing from Blair who brings
over 20 years experience to the craft and welcomes anyone who wants to discover
how the silver speaks. An award winning artist, she loves to share her
knowledge and her studio with beginners as well as those who wish to improve
their existing skills. Classes include basic silversmithing techniques,
intermediate learning, and advanced jewelry making as well as career
development in this time honored craft. Stop by and view an ongoing show of her
works at Silverworks Studio and Gallery open to the public Wednesday, Thursday,
Saturday and Sunday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and located on the 2nd floor of the

Writing
The Writer's Center cultivates the creation, publication, presentation and
dissemination of literary work. Its goal is to promote the art of writing and
to build a community of writers, workshop leaders, publishers and audiences for
contemporary writing. They offer workshops year-round for all ages and
abilities in fiction, feature writing, essay, memoir, poetry, playwriting and
screenwriting, and business writing. The Partnership is pleased to collaborate
with the Writer's Center to bring several workshops for adults and children to
